Lawmakers debate removal of controversial statue from state house

Just a few yards away from the intersection of State Circle and School Street in Annapolis sits a very large box freshly painted green. The box sits in front of the Maryland State House and taped to it is a small white note that reads in black ink: “Take this sadist away!”

Annapolis resident Cindy May approaches, pulls a blue pen from her purse and writes on the note: “They did.”

Calvert homeless man remembered by those who were kind to him

Bill Hall, a Calvert County fixture, died July 3. He was 70 years old and by the accounts of those who took the time to know him well, his journey on this earth was one of love, loss and the struggle to recover. Hall was a lifelong Calvert County resident — and he was also homeless.
